Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000
Location: Washington, D.C. or remote

Want to break into social media, SMS, and digital strategy for politics? Social media management and broadcast messaging are both growing and in-demand fields in the world of progressive politics. This job is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor with a growing team at Middle Seat and learn the ins & outs of running social media profiles and large-scale texting programs. We’re looking for self-starters who love to write, design graphics, and follow the news of the day.

Job Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the management of client social media accounts and texting programs: take the first pass at drafting content and gathering data for reports.
  • Assist in growing social followings, collecting SMS opt-ins, and fundraising online.
  • Posting on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other client social media platforms, with a consistent, robust, and responsive posting cadence for each platform
  • Creating graphics and short-form video for social media posts
  • Researching issues relevant to our clients in order to identify salient topics and content for social media posts and graphics
  • Support the social & SMS team on various projects
  • Remaining plugged in to political news and overall trends in progressive politics and social media
  • Manage texting production and develop other assets, such as mobile flows, landing pages, donation pages, and more
  • Learn best practices for social media & SMS fundraising, messaging campaigns, and platforms as they integrate into the entire digital program and into an organization’s mission
  • Other responsibilities as requested

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Interest in professional social media management for major platforms and broadcast texting
  • Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of progressive politics
  • Strong copywriting skills
    • Ability to write and adapt copy for various social media platforms
    • Majority of writing is free of errors
  • Ability to adapt writing to conform to client voices and perspectives
  • Attention to detail while managing tight deadlines and multiple content calendars
  • Basic graphic design and video editing skills preferred but not required
