Avant Labs is looking for a Sr. VFX Artist with a deep passion for games for our FPS PVP Blockchain based game, Elarium.

We are looking for a highly talented and creative individual who is able to combine the art of technology with the art of design. As Sr. VFX Artist you will be part of the Art department, working closely with the Art team and Game Designers to deliver their vision of the VFX, as well as collaborating with Engine Programmers to build future tools, pipelines, and graphic potential. It is your responsibility to drive the design and delivery of high quality Visual Effects content, ensuring they are in line with the artistic vision of the game, while maintaining strong communication with Tech Artists for improved pipeline and VFX implementation.

You will be creating visual VFX across all areas of the game ranging from environmental VFX, to VFX to punctuate game action, creating and maintaining VFX and shader libraries, to VFX for characters and their interaction with elements in the game world. You’re also involved in resolving the assortment of complex artistic/VFX development issues for other VFX Artists and other team members in close collaboration with the Art Team and Game Design.

Note: This is a fully remote position. In order to align with the rest of the team it is important that you operate no more than 3 hours from Central European Time (CET/CEST). We collaborate through modern tooling such as Slack, Google teams, Notion & Github in order to stay aligned during working days and towards our milestones.

Who you are

• You are a Senior level VFX Artist with at least 5 year industry or (proven) related experience.
• You have previous or next-gen video game platform experience.
• You are familiar with video game product development in general, including, but not limited to: workflow, tools, particle systems, lighting, high and low poly modeling, texture painting, texture/UV animation, UV layout, in-game and sprite animation, dynamics and simulations, material setup, and engine parameters/optimizations.
• You actively develop and improve your skill set and abilities by keeping aware of innovative techniques and learning new software packages for growth.
• You are a self-driven, responsible and detail-oriented person.
• You have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• You have excellent organizational and time management skills.
• You have a high level of written and spoken English.
• You have experience working in a fully remote working environment.
• You maintain strong knowledge of game design and art style to support optimal communication and collaboration.
• You have the ability to adapt to new technologies.
• You are passionate about gaming!

Qualifications & must haves

• You have comprehensive knowledge of VFX art production pipelines, tools, and systems associated with VFX asset creation.

• You have thorough understanding of shader techniques as applied to visual effects.

• You have traditional art and animation training and production experience.

• You have understanding of node based workflows, blueprints and materials inside of UE.

• You are proficient in UE, Maya (or 3D modeling package)

Optional - nice to haves

• Strong technical abilities; knowledge of PBR systems.

• Premiere/After Effects experience.

• Knowledge of Perforce.

• Working knowledge of dynamics and simulations packages.
