Work with Duolingo's team of curriculum designers, educational content developers, and content program managers to identify and apply best practices to course content creation and organization. Prior experience with language teaching, curriculum design, and/or translating is a plus.

Depending on the course's needs, Course Specialists will be responsible for maintenance and improvement goals (which may include keeping learner reports to a minimum, triaging bugs, fixing audio, and moderating sentence discussions). Our ideal candidate has some linguistic training and translation experience.

This is a temporary freelance position (no benefits included). All work will be conducted remotely and hours are flexible.

Responsibilities:

• Use your pedagogical expertise to develop creative course content for an online English course crafted for Dutch-speaking learners
• Join the team building the curriculum for an English course for Dutch speakers and write content for beginning English language learners
• Analyze and apply learner feedback to improve course content
• Maintain and improve the quality of Duolingo's English courses by triaging bugs and assisting with technical fixes
• Exercise creativity and humor to ensure that course material is engaging

Requirements:

• Full professional proficiency in Dutch
• Native fluency in English
• Linguistic training or familiarity with the various parts of speech
• Strong digital literacy, including experience working with and writing formulas in Google Spreadsheets
• Stable wifi connection
• Ability to work 10 hours/week (workload may vary from week to week)
• Strong interest in the mission of Duolingo!

Exceptional Candidates will have:

• Experience teaching English as a second/foreign language to Dutch speakers
• Experience in curriculum development and design
• Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
