ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Mentor at Fullstack Academy, you'll provide instructional support to a group of bootcamp students within your assigned cohort. You will support students as they work through learning exercises designed to build knowledge and skills and promote grit, problem-solving and a collaborative learning community. You’ll customize instructional support for individual students by providing additional scaffolding and extension ideas. You’ll provide additional insights for each learning experience and relevance to career readiness.

This role reports to the Manager of Instructional Teams and is supported by a collaborative instructional team and dedicated support staff to ensure an exceptional experience for each student in the cohort.

This is a part-time, remote role, as classes at Fullstack Academy are delivered synchronously and are 100% online. A cohort runs for 25 weeks of instruction, with the weekly part-time commitment expected to be 15 hours:

  • 2 weeknight sessions per week (either Mon/Wed or Tues/Thur, 3 hours each night)
  • 1 Saturday session per week (4 hours)
  • 5 hours of prep, office hours, student communications, team meetings, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

In this role you will:

  • Create a positive, professional and inclusive learning environment, by:
    • Employing best practices to meet needs of adult learners, leveraging tech tools, instructional best practices and helping students connect content to the real world by sharing industry insights and professional experience
    • Providing individualized student support during synchronous class sessions and support students throughout practice and application exercises
    • Supporting students outside class synchronously during office hours and asynchronously through timely communication
    • Communicating regularly with students to align on progress, expectations, celebrate milestones and address concern areas.
    • Leveraging instructional resources to meet needs of the students with varying backgrounds and experience
    • Promoting student retention and amplifying student satisfaction by creating a positive classroom culture for the Learning Team
  • Evaluate student performance and progression toward competencies based on course deliverables and course rubrics, by
    • Providing constructive and timely feedback to students in the cohort
    • Maintaining accurate and current records and documentation related to student progress
    • Escalating concerns in a timely manner to the Lead Instructor, and assist in the management of Performance Action Plans for individual students who need additional support
  • Serve as role model for students and an ambassador for our brand, by
    • Exhibiting professionalism and an ethical and empathetic approach when engaging with Fullstack staff, students, and the public
    • Implementing action plans to address deficiencies in success metrics

QUALIFICATIONS:

You are a great candidate for this role if you have:

  • 1+ experience in the Product Management industry
  • A passion for the Product Management industry, and to impact lives and business outcomes
  • A passion for teaching and the ability to explain complex technical concepts
  • An ability to build competency in managing collaboration across diverse stakeholders
  • A history of choosing a path of integrity

Part-Time Mentors are hourly, non-exempt employees and can expect to work approximately 15 hours per week and should not exceed expected hours without manager approval.

Colorado Equal Pay For Equal Work Act disclosure:

The expected compensation for this role for candidates from Colorado is $22-$24 per hour for candidates who fulfill the qualifications for the role.
