About the role

  • Build customer facing technology product for global customers
  • Design and develop end to end applications with very high quality
  • Partner with multiple Product Owners and/or teams to document business needs/requirements and associated processes
  • Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximise development efficiency
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and develop a deep understanding of the start-up ecosystem
  • Develop a sense of ownership and the zeal to build scalable applications
  • Understand the market and participate in product roadmap discussion

Ideal candidate

  • At least 3 years of data engineering experience with an overall 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • Experience with all/either of two: Apache Beam, Google Cloud Dataflow and Bigtable
  • Proficient in Golang
  • Proficient in writing airflow DAGs using python
  • Experience deploying, managing Airflow, Redis clusters
  • Experience building real-time streaming applications using Kafka, Flink
  • Proficient in SQL and is capable of writing complex queries to filter, group-by & inner/sub-queries
  • In-depth experience in containerization, including Docker and Kubernetes, and working with CI/CD pipelines using gitlab
  • Good knowledge of automating and provisioning infrastructure deployments using Terraform and
  • Chef/Ansible on a cloud platform like GCP
  • Experience managing distributed systems like a server-less data warehouse like BigQuery or Redshift
  • Experience in building data engineering applications on a large-scale distributed computing infrastructure in a cloud environment
  • Good if the person has written services in Golang that’ll orchestrate manage batching pipelines in Airflow
  • Written terraform code to deploy Airflow and maintain Airflow clusters for large scale jobs orchestration on the Google Cloud Platform
  • Built highly scalable and fault-tolerant data streaming & batching pipelines to process and analyze a large volume of messages from Kafka, Flink, and BigQuery
  • Containerized, deployed microservices on Kubernetes
  • Managed the auto-scaling and monitoring performances of the Infrastructure using Cortex and Grafana, or similar tools

Nadiem Makarim, CEO and Founder of GO-JEK Indonesia

Nadiem worked at McKinsey & Company, Zalora, and Kartuku before founding Gojek. Nadiem noticed as a frequent ojek user that ojek drivers spend the majority of their time waiting for passengers, while clients waste time walking around looking for an open ojek. Gojek was created to address this issue by creating a platform that allows drivers and riders to connect quickly and earn more money. An Indonesian native, Nadiem holds degrees from Brown University and Harvard Business School.


Kevin Aluwi, CEO & Co-founder at Gojek

Kevin has also worked at Zalora before founding Gojek. Kevin currently serves as the CEO of Gojek and is a graduate of the University of South California.


Michaelangelo Moran, Co-founder at Gojek

Michaelangelo Moran is the Co-Founder and Director of GO-JEK Indonesia / Semua Properties Bali / Arc MediSpa / Bali Praia. He studied in UWCSEA then earned a bachelor in BA in Boston University in 2003 and BFA in Web Design & New Media from Academy of Art University San Francisco, CA in 2010. Michaelangelo Moran is also known as DJ Mikey Moran who has opened on stage for major artists. He is also noted for designing Gojek's first distinctive logo and branding the entire company, in addition to working as the business's Brand Director.
