Highlight is a women-owned, minority owned startup that’s growing to work with innovation and insights teams at companies like P&G, Mondelez, Nestle, Pepsi, Mars, and more. Highlight has brought together a community of brands and consumers that are united in their mission to create better products for all, and democratized access to data for both emerging and enterprise brands.

We are looking for a lead QA Engineer to take ownership of our testing policies and procedures surrounding both automated and manual testing strategies. At Highlight, our core product is a cloud based technology platform, and as such our product’s quality is critical to our success. We are rapidly iterating on multiple code bases and projects, and as our Lead QA Engineer you will take ownership of implementing best practices and procedures both for our developers as well as for the QA team itself to ensure that we are highly confident in every release. Along the way, you will help development teams formulate testing strategies for writing their own automated unit and integration tests that strike a balance between productivity and confidence in the code. You will have the opportunity to shape the processes and procedures that the engineering department within Highlight will use as it continues to grow.

Impact
  • Take ownership and responsibility over the quality of the codebase, treating quality like it’s your baby

  • Write automation testing suites for End to End testing of both our APIs and web apps, to reduce the burden on manual testing

  • Instruct and guide developers on automation testing best practices on the unit and integration levels to improve our code coverage and confidence

  • Create policy and procedures that improve our quality KPIs

  • Ensure that testing plans are well documented and understandable for all stakeholders

  • Provide proactive and reactive testing support and training to users

  • Mentor and grow developers and QA engineers as our engineering department grows

  • A track record of mentoring other QAs and helping them grow

  • Proficiency with automated testing tools for both Backend APIs and React Web Apps

  • A keen attention to detail

  • A track record of parsing business requirements into detailed testing plans

  • A desire to bootstrap a QA team to ensure quality in all our products, with a strong emphasis on process improvement, team growth, and quality engineering

  • Strong written communication and documentation skills

  • A firm grasp of industry best practices around manual and automation testing
