Kunai is a fast-growing digital agency of 120+ people specializing in fintech. Ours is a fully remote team driven by innovation and experimentation. Over the past decade, we've shipped over 150 products for clients that include Visa, the United Nations, Wells Fargo, Ernst & Young, and TOMS Shoes. Our founders built a previous agency (Monsoon) that was acquired by Capital One in 2015. We focus our teams on outcomes that will grow the business and serve the needs of our customers.
We are looking for a Development Operations Manager who is highly skilled, technically oriented and has previous experience leading a team. This is a role that is responsible for, but not limited to, the development of the automation of technical processes; monitoring, administration and performance of the infrastructure; and using continuous improvement processes, as well as maintaining the stability of enterprise applications and websites.



You will:
  • Lead Dev Ops and major engineering initiatives
  • Deploy microservices in a CI/CD CodePipeline environment by scripting, testing, and creating backups to enable independent development, deployment, and scalability of the platform which will also include technical configuration of the system to ensure there are no issues with deployment.
  • Maintain and improve existing Kubernetes infrastructure. Dockerize legacy Windows and Linux applications to reduce the time it takes to bring applications to market, advancing dev to ops collaboration, increase productivity, and efficiently manage the diverse set of solutions, applications, clouds, and infrastructure in the platform.
  • Manage automated build processes using software development platforms (GitHub, Jenkins, and AWS CodeBuild) to enable quick, efficient, correct, and flexible deployments.
  • Automate, deploy, and test by leveraging webhooks and status checks from software development platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS CodeDeploy, AWS CodePipeline, GitHub, Jira, and Postman)
  • Configure and create automated real-time application monitoring solutions that include database log reviews, key performance indicators of system performance, and other alerts to maintain availability and security of database systems.
  • Champion ChatOps workflows using real-time communication tools (like Slack) and perform system administration tasks including changes to user permissions, system configurations, and tuning applications and processes in support and partnership with the development team.



Qualifications:
  • A minimum education level of: BA/BS Degree (4-year) in a related field
  • A minimum of 4 years of related work experience
  • Experience in cloud-based DevOps
  • Eagerness to work in a highly collaborative team environment
  • Understanding of DevOps fundamentals such as security, scalability, and reliability
  • Ability to design and create cloud-based software defined networking
  • Familiarity with fault tolerant infrastructure designs including the use of regions and availability zones
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes setup, configuration, and deployment
  • Proficiency in a scripting language such as Bash or PowerShell
  • Software engineering experience using Ruby on Rails
  • Experience with a unified, real-time monitoring and analytics platform, such as Azure Log Analytics, Google StackDriver / Operations Suite, New Relic, Splunk or Datadog
  • Understanding of Microsoft SQL or MySQL
  • Experience using a CI/CD tool like CircleCI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or AWS CodePipeline
  • Familiar with an Agile work environment
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
  • Results driven with reliable follow through



Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience building infrastructure as code with a templating specification such as Azure ARM Templates, AWS CloudFormation, AWS SAM or Terraform
  • Experience defining and configuring Azure cloud services such as Traffic Managers, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Container Registry (ACR), Azure Front Door, Azure Application Insights, Azure Key Vault, Load balancers, VNets, Azure Event Hub
  • Experience automating the deployment for a microservices platform
  • Experience working on a project that uses a JavaScript Framework (Ember.js, Vue.js, React, Angular)
  • Experience configuring infrastructure and application alerts, alarms, and notifications
  • Experience solving application monitoring challenges through the use of continuous synthetic transactions
  • Comfortable using Git version control
