Job Description

Purpose: The Software Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring that our products meet the quality standards and are fully functional and user friendly. This role is responsible for development and execution of test plans, scripts and processes for our products. The engineer is part of a software delivery team and collaborates with the product owner in user testing initiatives.

Our Setup 

  • The team works in a two-week iteration model and follows SCRUM as the basis of our software development process.  
  • We use Jira to track our user stories, chores and bugs.  
  • We use GitHub to maintain our code base. 
  • Our cloud infrastructure is hosted in AWS. 
  • We love tools that make our lives easier and have a plethora of modern and not so modern tools and services.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and execute manual test plans and scripts for features and products for the Systems team. 
  • Perform release/regression testing for our product updates. 
  • Coordinate with the Systems team in triaging issues reported from the organization to identify bugs. 
  • Identify, document and track bugs 
  • Offer deep defect root cause analysis and root cause solutions. 
  • Be able to estimate testing effort and prioritize assignments. 
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned  

Qualifications

Skills and Competencies 

  • Experience with maintaining documented test plans in a test management system. 
  • Experience with test automation 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals. 
  • Experience with agile development methodologies such as SCRUM or Kanban is a plus. 
  • The ability to work well independently or on a team. 
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent analytical, technical and problem-solving skills. 

Technical Skills: 

  • 2+ years of experience in software quality assurance experience. 
  • Experience with test automation testing frameworks using Selenium with python (PHP is a plus)  
  • Proficient in testing web services (REST and SOAP) using Postman 
  • Good understanding with TDD/BDD testing frameworks 
  • Experience in writing SQL queries to validate the test outcome in the DB 
  • Experience with defect tracking and collaboration tools like JIRA and Confluence 
  • Experience with CI/CD testing (Travis CI/Jenkins for continuous build validation) is a plus 
  • Experience with customer facing integration (SOA) testing, API testing in both Cloud and Distributed environment is a plus 
  • Experience in Java Script, preferred. 

Additional Information

Education: 

  • B.S. in Computer Science or related field

Job Type: 

  • Full Time 
  • Office hours: 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday 

Requirements

  • Travel to Princeton, NJ or another location within the United States for training, team meetings, etc., approximately 4x / year (Proof of Covid-19 vaccination must be provided for in-person meetings)
