The role

You’ll have a front seat experience in impacting women across the globe through fashion and data.

You will play a pivotal role in championing a data-driven approach in our decision-making and empowering our organization to act smarter, faster and more efficiently. You’ll be responsible for designing and implementing a variety of data-enabled solutions, generating actionable insights and launching direct decision output models to improve our business. In addition, you’ll play an important role in setting up best practices for our analytics workflow and act as a leader and mentor for our team.

Main responsibilities

As our Data Science Lead, you will collaborate closely with the broader data & analytics team and cross-functional stakeholders to drive growth and efficiency across our business with a focus on recommendation systems to bring fun personalization experiences to our community and inventory & supply chain optimization to help us produce the right quantities, reduce waste and bring the right products to our customers.

Creating best practices & mentoring our analytics team

  • Act as a data science expert within the data team and mentor junior members of the team
  • Key contributor for the team’s data science strategy and roadmap - defining success metrics in close collaboration with business and functional stakeholders
  • Share and demonstrate the team’s work and impact to the broader organization
  • Work alongside data engineering and business intelligence to support our data infrastructure development to support both business analytics requirements and data product pipelines

Decision modeling and automation

  • Identify and scope new analytics opportunities with high ROI
  • Refine problem statements and translate those into analytics projects that can be clearly defined and strategically solved
  • Scop, plan and deliver analytics projects to achieve business objectives (ability to break down goals into clear milestones, objectives, KPIs and deliverables)
  • Develop predictive models using a variety of statistical methods and machine learning techniques
  • Design, build and continuously improve our recommendation engine and its use cases
  • Work closely with technical and business teams to iterate solutions, A/B test and gather actionable feedback to continuously raise the standards of our analytics capabilities
  • Coordinate sessions to review model performance, brainstorm and prioritize new opportunities
  • Proactively leverage resources from the open-source community and research from academia to improve the standards of our models and analytics capabilities

Analytics frameworks and insights

  • Design, develop and drive effective usage of analytical frameworks that unlocks business value
  • Define performance metrics, targets and ensure alignment across the company
  • Design, build and maintain user-friendly dashboards for tracking business health as well as the performance of launched models and specific initiatives
  • Present, prepare and coordinate ongoing performance reviews (e.g. weekly and quarterly)

New data integration and data infrastructure

  • Ensure high data quality, reliability, and visibility of our analytics stack and workflow
  • You’re a key contributor to the development of our analytics capabilities and collaborate closely with our data engineers to drive meaningful improvements that raise the quality and expand the scope of insights that it enables
  • Assist in the evaluation of new initiatives and make key contributions to the formation of our longer-term data strategy

Requirements

Qualifications & Technical skills

  • Highly proficient in SQL and Python for analytics and machine learning contexts
  • Knowledge in statistical methods and experience in applying that to solve business problems
  • Working knowledge of predictive modeling and machine learning from prototyping to production
  • Experience with recommendation systems will be a big plus
  • Experience with data visualization tools, preferably Tableau and Metabase
  • Knowledge of experimental design (A/B testing)
  • Experience working with cloud infrastructure such as AWS will be advantageous
  • Experience in database and big data tools (especially AWS Redshift, Spark, Hadoop, Databricks platform will be advantageous)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience communicating results to leadership teams to drive the strategy
  • Track-record of forming strong partnerships with cross functional teams
  • M.S. or Bachelors degree with emphasis on coursework of a quantitative nature (e.g., Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering)
