Job Details

We're a virtual reality (VR) game development studio that's creating the next generation of online casino gaming. Our exclusive partnership with PokerStars (the world's largest poker site) has propelled our debut game (PokerStars VR) to becoming one of the most popular multiplayer games in VR.

Originally based in Toronto, our team has adopted remote working for the future. As we continue to grow rapidly, we're looking for talented people to help make our ambitions a reality. If you're passionate about gaming and VR, we'd be delighted to hear from you!

Role

We're looking for a highly talented and versatile 3D Prop Artist to join our small and dedicated team. You will be working on a wide variety of interesting props and apparel for a passionate and growing community of online players across desktop, mobile and console VR. You should have an eye for design and a passion for creating original items that enhance the in-game experience for our players.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new props, apparel and other game assets that fit within conceptual designs or brief guidelines, technical parameters, and production goals
  • Work from references and short briefs to develop ideas into fully formed assets that fit perfectly into our game world
  • Ensure that art assets are performant and fit within their budgets for draw calls, poly counts and texture memory limits without compromising visual quality
  • Help define and maintain art production pipelines, tools, and systems to scale assets from high-end PCs to mobile Android VR headsets
  • Occasionally help to develop our in-game environments with input from senior Environment Artists and the Art Lead
  • Maintain consistent aesthetic and technical quality for all assets

Requirements

  • Impressive portfolio of high quality 3D art showcasing relevant abilities and experience
  • High proficiency with 3DS Max, Substance Painter, Photoshop and ZBrush
  • Solid sculpting/character abilities
  • Excellent material and texturing skills for both a realistic art style using PBR as well as a more stylized, mobile spec direction
  • Hands-on experience with Unity
  • Deep understanding of asset optimization challenges/techniques in a shipped product
  • A high level of creativity and ability to use a short design brief and reference images to create unique and compelling game assets on the fly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to give and receive feedback well
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple ongoing tasks
  • Able to work independently as well as collaborate with others
  • Comfortable working in fast-moving, ambiguous development environments
  • Ability to onboard and work remotely

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong background in AR or VR
  • Other relevant skills such as environmental, VFX, graphic design, concepting/2D skills etc
  • Experience with Perforce and/or Git
  • Experience owning and shipping store assets across various platforms (e.g., iOS, PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and VR)
