Job Description

What you will be doing:

Core Responsibilities

  • The role will involve supporting the QA Manager in testing activities for the covert operations management solution, known as Charter, including new features, incident remediation and BAU testing.
  • The postholder should have a strong background in testing as they will be be involved in supporting the testing activities of planning, scripting, reporting and execution across the test environments.
  • Having the ability to learn complex software systems, provide testing support and undertake testing duties which will ensure the integrity and quality of the production software for our customers.
  • Software in the department is developed and tested in a Scrum framework, so the QA Engineer will be an integral part of a scrum development team and as such will partake in refinement, planning, retrospective and review sessions following the cadence of the sprint.
  • Interact with product management, project management and SCRUM development teams to develop a strong understanding of the product and testing objectives, including participating in internal sprint planning reviews and daily stand-ups.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Design and create test conditions and scripts to address business and technical use cases.
  • Oversee scheduled and ad-hoc functional and regression testing of new and existing core functionality to ensure high quality standard are achieved at all times for all software releases.
  • Run manual tests.
  • Clear reporting of the testing status through test execution.
  • Maintenance of testing script checklists to ensure this is consistent with new or changed functionality as part of a software release to support the testing activity.
  • Document, track and escalate issues as appropriate, using DevOps.
  • Performing end-to-end system, regression and UAT.



Qualifications

Who Are You?

An experienced QA/Test Engineer with the ability to understand and test complex systems.

In particular, we are looking for:

  • Qualified to ISEB/ ISTQB Foundation/intermediate level
  • Knowledge of testing of C#, Javascript web-based functionality
  • Knowledge of API testing
  • Write and execute manual test scripts
  • Experience of working with Agile methodologies such as Kanban and Scrum
  • Clear reporting of the testing status through test execution
  • Proven ability to create, plan and execute appropriate test plans for all types of change
  • Public sector experience would be preferred and advantageous
  • Database skills, mainly in Oracle and SQL Server
  • Must be flexible, independent and self-motivated
  • Desire to work with and mentor junior team members
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
