In a $31tn FMCG market, with over 1 million manufacturers, 20m distributors and wholesalers and over 500m independent retailers, less than 3% of the B2B trading is currently done online. Our mission is to grow global online commerce for the world's small businesses by removing the barriers to online trading.

Currently, due to antiquated and high-cost payment networks, over $19tn of trade payments are made offline, adding complexity and inconvenience to online trading. This has resulted in local retailers, who directly influence >80% of local consumer buying behaviour, often being the least technically equipped with data, pricing, or the latest inventory.

So we built an Open Commerce Platform that enables the sale and distribution of FMCG products to be made much simpler. Products should be in front of sellers fast, in real-time, through an immersive commerce experience, with trade buyers and sellers able to see live commerce opportunities and pricing. We have built a digital ecosystem that is specifically designed to unlock the full value of the distribution network, providing real-time visibility for order and inventory management. Our innovative platform provides brands and distributors with deep data insights into buyer trends and behaviours and helps identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling products.

The role:

As a RedCloud DevOps Engineer you'll be working on a Cloud native platform which provides a B2B platform across Africa and Latin America. You'll be part of a team of engineers which help maintain and improve our DevOps practices, build and deployment pipelines as well as identifying production issues and performance bottlenecks. Helping to set, monitor and refine performance and availability metrics and enabling tools and automation to assist in freeing up the engineering team from constant manual and repetitive tasks.

We are searching for someone who is not afraid to share ideas, enjoys collaborating with a cross-functional team to develop real-world solutions and positive user experiences.

What you will be doing

• Lead engineers in implementing technical solutions
• Take ownership of workstreams
• Plan team activities to meet deadlines
• Mentor junior team members
• Maintain foundational configuration of our Cloud environments
• Design, maintain and improve product delivery pipelines capable of optimising core metrics
• Devise processes and automation tools that follow DevOps best practices
• Deploy and maintain distributes systems based on several different tech stacks
• Deploy and maintain SQL and NoSQL databases
• Ensure observability of production environments through monitoring and logging of infrastructure, platform and application layers
• Ensure that systems are kept safe and secure against cybersecurity threats throughout the delivery pipeline
• Improve reliability, availability, quality, and time-to-market of our software and platforms
• Measure, optimize and improve system performance in order to serve and anticipate customer needs
• Participate in fault investigations and remediating actions
• Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning
• Lead investigations and proofs of concept of new tools and solutions
• Participate in support, on-call rotas
• Evangelise DevOps culture and practices
• Act as SME for other teams and functions

What you should have:

• Experience working with Agile methodologies
• Experience leading technical projects and work groups
• Good understanding of DevOps principles and practices
• Knowledge of programming and Scripting languages such as bash, PowerShell, python
• Knowledge of configuration framework such as Terraform, CloudFormation and Ansible
• Experience using public clouds such as AWS, Azure, etc
• Knowledge of monitoring best practices
• Experience with workloads containerisation
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
• Experience working within compliance environments such as ISO27001, SOC2, PCI-DSS
• Experience working in structured, multi-functional organisations

Preferred Knowledge:

• Experience managing engineering teams
• Experience with Scrum or SAFe methodologies
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools and GitHub
• Knowledge of test best practices
• Experience supporting Windows based workloads
• Good understanding of eCommerce, logistics, FMCG
• Good understanding of payments/banking ecosystem (Africa/LatAm)
• Experience in distributed systems design
• Worked with platforms such as Magento, Shopify, etc
