About the role
As a Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for corporate governance matters for the existing and new corporate entities of Skuad in the EMEA region and provide support to the Head of Legal Ops to manage the EMEA portfolio. In addition, the Legal Counsel will provide expert legal advice and support on a wide range of employment law matters across multiple jurisdictions within the EMEA region. The successful candidate will support the Head of Legal Ops and will work closely with HR, management, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with local labor laws, mitigate risks, and support the company's strategic objectives.
Collaborate with various vendors across the EMEA region and provide assistance in the following areas:
- Oversee the comprehensive corporate affairs of both existing and new Skuad entities from start to finish
- Assist with managing entities and coordinating international expansion efforts
- Offer corporate guidance and support to the board of directors for the entities under management
- Provide proactive and practical legal advice on employment law issues, including hiring, terminations, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and workplace policies
- Advise on the interpretation and application of labor laws and regulations across various EMEA countries
- Ensure compliance with applicable corporate, labor and employment laws, regulations, and company policies
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate legal risks related to employment matters
- Draft, review, and update employment policies, handbooks, and procedures to ensure they are legally compliant and aligned with best practices
- Work closely with HR, management, and other departments to provide integrated legal support
- Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives that impact corporate and employment matters
- Monitor and report on legislative and regulatory developments in the EMEA region
- File all necessary documents and reports as mandated under law
- Examine all agreements and document compliances to understand and monitor shareholder and corporate obligations and adherence
Ideal candidate
- LL.M degree from a recognized University
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Knowledge and proven experience in corporate law for private limited liability companies
- 2-6 years of experience in an international setting, including working in companies with focus on legal entity governance and regulatory reporting structures
- 2-6 years of in-depth knowledge of employment laws and regulations in multiple EMEA countries
- Experience in communication with foreign parties
- Exposure to businesses operating at scale or multi-national corporations
- Ability to engage collaboratively with all stakeholders, influence key decision makers and manage change across the organization
- Excellent numerical, organizational, IT and time management skills
- High standards of confidentiality, discretion and integrity
