How we work

We believe that teams work better when they have time to collaborate and space to get things done. We call it Zego Hybrid.

It’s not “hybrid working” as you might know it – we don’t ask you to work from the office on set days. It’s a flexible approach that allows every Zegon to be their best.

Home can still be your primary place of work, with team days and events at our central London office when we need to get together. We cover the costs for all company-wide events (3 per year) and provide a separate hybrid contribution to help pay towards travel costs for our monthly pizza socials and other team get-togethers.

We think it’s a good mix of collaborative face time and flexible home-working, setting us up to achieve that right balance between work and life.

Who we’re looking for

It’s an exciting time to join Zego and we are looking for an ambitious, qualified accountant who is enthusiastic and eager to learn in our growing Finance team. Reporting to the Head of Finance - Regulatory & Statutory and B2B, the Accountant will be involved in the monthly accounting and play an integral role in developing a controlled finance environment. You will also work closely with other areas of the business such as Legal, Compliance, Operations, Sales, Account Management, Customer Service as well as our Tech team to support the growth of our business.

We are offering a 6 months FTC.

What you will be working on

  • You will assist and support the finance team with the monthly accounts (including preparation of a P&L, Balance sheet and cashflow)
  • You will assist with the preparation of a monthly finance reporting pack and provide commentary on variances between actuals and budget
  • You will be responsible for posting key monthly journal entries to the income statement, reconciling balance sheet accounts and managing the accruals and prepayment processes
  • You will support the B2B and claims teams with any ad-hoc queries that arise and liaise with other areas of the business as required
  • Assisting and supporting the Finance team with ad-hoc finance projects
  • You will assist with the preparation of annual statutory accounts and annual audit and regulatory requirements
  • You will assist with reporting to our insurance carriers and tax intermediaries and support the resolution of any ad hoc queries
  • You will work with external tax advisors in multiple locations internationally to ensure accurate tax reporting and compliance in all of Zego’s international locations
  • You will assist with the monthly B2B Billing process and work closely with Product and Account Management teams to streamline the end to end process flow as the business grows

What you will need to be successful in the role

  • You are a qualified/final part-qualified Accountant (ACA or equivalent) with at least 2 years of experience
  • You are a proactive problem solver with an analytical mind, strong attention to detail and savvy Excel skills
  • You are an expert at time management and know how to manage competing priorities
  • You have a positive outlook and enjoy working collaboratively with others
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience of working with a fintech or in a start-up environment is advantageous
