Responsibilities

  • As a CNA, your duties and responsibilities include providing direct patient care, including assisting with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and feeding
  • We expect you to monitor vital signs and report any abnormalities or changes in condition to the nursing staff
  • As a CNA, it will be your responsibility to offer emotional support and companionship to patients. You will have to develop close relationships with patients, providing comfort and encouragement
  • Under the supervision of nurses, you may have to help with medical procedures, such as applying and changing dressings, collecting specimens, and assisting with patient transfers
  • We expect you to maintain a clean and sanitized environment by following infection control protocols
  • Your CNA duties and responsibilities include assisting patients with mobility, helping them move around, repositioning them in beds or wheelchairs, and providing support for walking or exercise as prescribed
  • Keeping patient rooms clean and organized, changing bed linens, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment and stocking supplies are part of a CNA's responsibilities
  • As a CNA, your duty will be to document patient information accurately and timely, including observations, treatments, and medications administered
  • We expect you to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure a proper understanding of care plans and instructions
  • You will participate in interdisciplinary meetings and provide input on patient progress and needs
  • Ensuring patient safety is paramount. You will have to help prevent accidents and maintain a safe environment by following proper protocols and using equipment correctly
  • In some settings, you may assist with palliative and end-of-life care, providing comfort and support to terminally ill patients and their families
  • You will work as part of a larger healthcare team, collaborating with nurses, doctors, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic and comprehensive patient care
  • We expect you to demonstrate empathy, compassion, and respect towards patients while upholding their dignity and privacy

Requirements

  • You must have a valid CNA certification from an accredited institution
  • You should possess robust communication skills to effectively interact with patients, their families, and the healthcare team
  • We expect you to have a strong understanding of infection control protocols and follow them diligently
  • It is essential that you are able to prioritize tasks efficiently and manage your time effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • You must be physically capable of lifting and transferring patients safely, adhering to proper body mechanics techniques
  • We require you to have knowledge of basic medical terminology and the ability to accurately document patient information
  • Your attention to detail should extend to monitoring vital signs and identifying any abnormalities or changes in the patient's condition
  • You should possess Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification, including training in CPR techniques

Salary Range (in USD)

$29,250 to $45,023 per year (Talent.com)

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent, like a General Education Development (GED) certificate
  • A state-approved CNA training program

Registered Nurse (RN)/Charge Nurse/Nurse Supervisor/Director of Nursing (DON)/Clinical Coordinator or Unit Manager/Healthcare Team and Supervisors
