Firmware Engineer Job Description
Firmware Engineer job description will consist of the role, responsibilities, qualifications and technical or soft skills required
Role
The main duty of firmware engineers is to create and implement the software for industry-specific hardware. They create comprehensive firmware strategies and guarantee that the firmware is constantly operational and up to date.
Responsibilities
- Planing, improving and managing software applications from inception to use
- Obtaining and evaluating customer requirements
- Dedicating resources to finish programming projects and create comprehensive plans to ensure firmware is operating correctly
- Composing technical writing for instructive purposes for firmware operations
- Documenting firmware and keeping it up to date
- Supporting consumers with products
- Resolve software defects by handling testing, system performance, environmental and system troubleshooting
- Perform technical design and code reviews to provide design support, mentor junior engineers
- Design and develop RFID credential readers, electronic locking systems, access control and security to support residential and commercial markets
- Development of new methods for testing communication protocols such as BLE, ZigBee, and Wi-Fi
Requirements
- Prior experience in firmware development or similar
- Familiarity with computer languages such as Java, C++, FPGA, SOC, NAND FLASH, Flash, and Python software and systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server
- Knowledge of data structures and algorithms
- Ability to write protocols and firmware development practices
Soft Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to multitask
- Strong organizational and collaborative skills
Bonus
- Knowledge on Wireless Protocols like BLE, Wi-Fi etc
- Knowledge of any RTOS

Salary Range (in USD)
$78,000 - $100,000 per yearQualifications
