Responsibilities
The major duties and responsibilities of a Registered Nurse are:
- You must provide direct nursing care and treatment to patients within the hospital
- We expect you to assess patients' medical conditions, review their medical histories, and develop individualized care plans
- Involve patients and/or significant others in decisions regarding care
- The Registered Nurse's duties include administering medication and treatments as prescribed by physicians or healthcare providers
- You will monitor and record vital signs, symptoms, and changes in the patient's condition and report any concerns or abnormalities to the appropriate personnel
- We expect you to collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care and ensure effective communication among team members
- You must comply with all applicable laws, and procedures related to nursing practice, patient care, and hospital policies
- You will educate patients and their families on health management, disease prevention, and treatment options
- We expect you to maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical history, treatments received, and progress notes
- You can also be asked to document patient care services and treatment plans in electronic medical records
- One of your most important nurse responsibilities is to counsel patients and their families about their condition and needed treatments and tests
- You should be able to respond to emergency treatments and assessments
- You must follow established protocols and ethical standards
- At times, you can be asked to perform diagnostic tests and interpret test results
- One of your daily duties as a Registered Nurse will be to maintain a safe and clean working environment, adhering to infection control protocols and other safety standards
- You should be able to administer IV fluids and medications to patients who require them
- Attend and participate in departmental meetings, continuing education programs, and professional conferences to stay current with the latest nursing practices and advancements
- Initiate emergency resuscitative measures according to adult resuscitation and advanced life support protocols
- Your nurse responsibilities include medication administration and storage procedures; and controlled substance regulations
Requirements
- A valid registered nurse license
- You should have strong critical thinking skills to assess patient needs and develop appropriate care plans
- You must be able to effectively communicate with patients, their families, and the healthcare team
- You should demonstrate empathy and provide compassionate care to promote patient comfort and well-being
- You must possess excellent organizational skills to prioritize and manage multiple patient cases efficiently
- You should be adept at using the medical equipment and technology required for patient monitoring and treatment
- You must adhere to ethical standards and maintain patient confidentiality in all aspects of your work
- You should have the ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations
- You should continuously update your knowledge through professional development opportunities to ensure evidence-based practice
- You must have the ability to adhere to strict patient confidentiality standards
- You should be able to maintain the autonomy, dignity, and rights of the patient and family while providing care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory way that is attentive to the patient's and family's diversity

Salary Range (in USD)
$70,400 - $89,700 per yearQualifications
- Current Registered Nurse licensure in the applicable state
- BSN or associate degree in nursing or associate's degree in nursing (ADN) from an accredited program, Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), or advanced nursing degree preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) training certificate and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
Reports To
Senior Registered Nurse/ Adjunct Registered Nurse/ Head Nurse/ Clinical Manager for the assigned department
Key Skills
